good-bye bolivia

we left bolivia yesterday.  we spent nearly exactly a month in this sweet little country and we will miss it.  we had so many great adventures, saw so many amazing sites and met so many wonderful people.

.....we will miss the many many protests and road blocks we saw!

.....we will miss seeing the cholitas with their bowler hats (which are miraculously only held on by gravity!)...todd was especially enamored with the cholitas!

...although bolivia is not know for its cuisine we will miss the street food, especially the saltenas which are little meat and veggie filled empanada like hot pockets.  we were also quite fond of papas rellanos which are meat or cheese filled mashed potatoes that are then fried and served with a variety of chili sauces...yum!

.....we had many a glass of tasty red bolivian wine from the southern region.  however the real gem we discovered was this liquor made from white grapes called singani.  mixed with a little bubbly something (sprite in our case) and a lime....it was a delicious cocktail! (as you can see the bottle is empty!)

there are so many other things we will miss for sure.  bolivia treated us well....adios bolivia!!
