jazz fest

my college girlfriends and i have been going to jazz fest in new orleans for going on 12 yrs now. we used to go every year (mostly) but since we've all had kids we manage every 2-3 years.  its a great reunion everytime and jazz fest itself never disappoints.

we certain party during the weekend, but mostly we sit in the sun under our flag (yes it does say schlong...an old inside joke and always a conversation starter with other festivalers)

... this is lisa (my college roommate) and lauren who lisa befriended back in her law firm days. lauren is a jazz fest regular who i always enjoy seeing.

....we listen to the music and we dance

......and we enjoy catching up.  this is caroline and hava (two of my good college friends).  this was caroline's first time to jazz fest and she can't wait to come back!

.....then the two again with myself and lisa.

.....this is lisa and her friend from law school katy (who has been coming to jazz fest from the beginning, so she's like my old college friend at this point too)

.........as always it was a fabulous weekend of sun, music and good friends!!!! can't wait for jazz fest 201?

spring sports

we are slowly making our way out of winter and starting to see more and more signs of spring..... in addition to the budding flowers spring is when we head back onto the field for sports.

riley has decided to play lacrosse this year.  he is a good little athlete and is picking up the sport easily....

lucy started t-ball this year.  she isn't convinced yet that this is the sport for her but is enjoying having her brother on the sideline cheering for her for a change.

and don't you worry....we are still eeeking out the last days of skiing.

hope you are enjoying the nice weather as well....
....i just got back from new orleans so a post on that coming soon!

disneyland

we returned a few days ago from a fun filled trip to disneyland. now i know disneyland is super commercial, materialistic, crowded etc....that said the kids loved it. i technically had a conference in anaheim (i shamelessly schedule my conferences in places i want to go) and my mom went with me to help with the kids. todd said 'no thank you' to disneyland (though in the end he worked his butt off in denver getting our first little house there ready to sell so he may be regretting that decision).

we had a great time. we saw all the usual suspects (mickey, minnie, goofy etc) ......

......and to lucy's delight many of the princesses. in fact momo treated us to a fabulous 'princess breakfast' in which they all showed up.

....... this was on day 4 of the trip so momo and i treated ourselves to bloody mary's that breakfast.....

....we went on lots of fabulous rides.  hitting of course 'the classics'...mr. toads wild ride,  the storybook ride into pinoccio's whale, the mad hatter's tea cups, dumbo the flying elephant.

....and a few new rides. riley loved the 'autotopia' rides where he was able to drive a car.

....riley also discovered a new found love of roller coasters...who knew? this is outside 'big thunder mountain', which lucy also rode to her credit, but riley went on it again and again.

.....and to balance out the princess time, riley was selected to be a 'jedi in training'..... as you can imagine this made his day.  after his 'training' he had to fight darth mal...

.....we watched the parade (in fact we managed to see it three times!)...

....most of the days were sunny and bright but we did get stuck in a rain storm while sitting atop the ferris wheel....this picture was snapped before the storm, but do noticed the grey clouds threatening behind the ferris wheel.

.....all in all we had a very fun visit to the magic kingdom!

and it really does look especially magical at night......
