father's day

so father's day ended up being a little bit of a patchwork quilt.  my mom had gotten tickets to the thorn's game (portland's women's professional soccer team) for her and riley, and i had committed to marching in the gay pride parade in portland (my way of supporting marriage equality).

so todd celebrated father's day with the kids the day before by taking them down to the sandcastle building contest at the beach.  they had a great day and are all inspired to enter the contest next year.

the actual day of father's day found todd alone at home peacefully gardening...he thought it was actually quite lovely.

....this is lucy and i at the pride parade wearing our 'standing on the side of love' shirts.

we hung out downtown after the parade for awhile and had a little urban adventure.  lucy took these pictures of her time downtown.  it was quite an eye-opening day for my small town girl....

....riley had a great time at the game and they won! (unfortunately the only picture i have is on my phone and i can't figure out how to get it off)

.....happy father's day!

i forgot to post these pics!

hi all....just was about to post about father's day and a recent camping trip and i realized i had forgotten to post these pictures way back from memorial day weekend.  i actually went to visit a friend that weekend, but todd and the kids went up and spent with weekend at my dad's lake cabin with my brother and his kids.  looks like they all had a great time.

father's day post up next....

nine

happy birthday riley!!

a big whopping nine years old!  his birthday was the last day of school and his 6 best buddies came home from school with him on the bus.  riley wanted a hiking birthday so we took the 7 boys (plus lucy of course) on a little outdoor adventure...super fun.

....and this is what two parents look like while trying to manage 7 boys in the woods...

.....and in a complete departure from nature, riley wanted a jeep cake this year.....

...then we opened presents and finished with a little friendly soccer game.  a great celebration!

....the beginning of our last year in the single digits! happy birthday sweet boy!
