dad's day

we had tickets to the portland thorns game (women's professional soccer team) on father's day.  it was pouring rain, but we were still smiling and having fun.
a fun day to celebrate our favorite dad!  happy father's day!

double digits

we hit double digits this year....riley turned 10!  we had so much fun celebrating this sweet kid.  riley is pretty passionate about soccer.  and you may have heard there is this little thing called the world cup going on right now (it has taken over our home truth be told).....so we had ourselves a soccer birthday through and through.  it was a blast!!  his buddies came over and played a game of soccer

....a few of the dads got into the game as well, and we even had a world cup trophy!
we took a break to watch a little world cup (england vs italy...great game).  one of the dads is italian so he was in heaven....turns out a roomful of rowdy 10yr old boys is very much like being in a bar, just without the alcohol (and italy won too!)  ..........then we had some cake (of course riley wanted a soccer ball).

....and to burn off that sugar the boys went and played another game of soccer!!    riley had a great great birthday celebration.  it was exactly the most perfect way to spend his day, playing soccer and watching soccer with his friends.    happy double digits little man!!

memorial day weekend

playing a little catch up as usual.  we spent memorial day up at the lake cabin.  it was a nice relaxing weekend.  sitting on the dock. doing a little fishing and just hanging out some.

there was a 'riverfest' at a nearby town. the kids had fun on the bungee thing.  we also stopped for milkshakes...yum.

we did do a short little white water adventure but i didn't get a single picture of the event. it was fun though, and i managed to stay in the boat which was a bonus!  a nice little weekend overall!!

lax

so riley's lacrosse season is officially over and i realized i never managed to post any pictures.  he played on the 3rd/4th grade team and partly because he was a 4th grader and one of the more experience players on the team... he was also one of the strongest players.  he played with such confidence this season and had a great season.......super fun to watch!!   riley is fast so plays mid-field mostly...scored a bunch too.  and the last few games even got to try out goalie a little.  here is a few pictures....with the helmets it is hard to see which one he is, but he is #29 with a bright yellow stick. his best friend jack is #3.

science fair

elementary school science fair for the 4th grade kids.....you know the scene, gym full of kids demonstrating their science projects....just classic.

mama's day

my goal is to post a few times a month....i am under goal and late.  oh well.   these pictures are way back from mother's day.  it was a beautiful sunshiney day and we were already in portland so we had a fun little urban adventure.  we did what is called the 4Ts....and as the name suggests there are four Ts. the first T is a trail.  a great 5mi hike from the zoo up to the top of portland called 'the hill' where the medical complex lives.  we took a little snack break at the benches on council crest mid-hike.
the second T is tram.   from the top of 'the hill' you take the tram down to the bottom.
the third T is trolley. you take the trolley from the bottom of the tram into downtown portland.
then the fourth T is train. you take the train back to the zoo where the car is parked.  i of course like to add a fifth T...taste.  we hit up the food carts for a little lunch before heading back to our car on the train.
it was a super fun day and i felt all the mama love all day long!!
