this deserved it's own post.

riley had his first piano recital this past weekend.  he played beautifully....we are super proud of him.   he started taking lessons in september and has really enjoyed it.  his teacher is amazing...the perfect combination of musical technique/knowledge/skill with sincere sweetness and a way with kids.

he played two songs at the recital.  the first was a duet with his teacher called 'Woodpecker', and the second his solo called 'Rainstorm'.

weekend with friends

this weekend happened about a month ago, but given my slacker status i am just getting around to posting it now.  five families from hood river rented a house down at long beach for the weekend.  that would be a total of 10 adults and 10 kids...it was super fun.
i actually didn't take many pictures, but there was good hiking adventures, clamming on the beach, a fresh steelhead for dinner, and of course brews provided by our favorite brewer.

such a fabulous weekend!!

lacrosse

sorry for the long post delay life has been busy.

in the world of childhood sports we have graduated to the level that finds us traveling for games, and many a weeknight and weekend finds us getting riley to a lacrosse game in portland (an hour plus away)....we are now paying the piper for choosing to live in a small town.  so needless to say, we have been very wrapped up in riley's lacrosse season......don't get me wrong, i love watching the boy play and he is having a great time. so here are a few picture from this season.  riley is #6....he is definately one of the smaller kids, a foot small than his best friend jack, but he holds his own on the field.

there are a few more posts forthcoming...i promise.  lacrosse isn't the only thing we have been doing!
