graduation and denver trip

i'm a little behind with this post but both kids had their last day of school on the 15th.  and for lucy it meant the end of her time at her pre-school.  she officially graduated from Little Feet Co-op Preschool and will off to kindergarten in the fall.  and for us parents it was a little bittersweet saying goodbye to the pre-school we have been a part of for the past 5 years (between the two kids). another milestone.......

and then the following day todd and the kids boarded a plane to denver (i had work so i stayed home).  by all accounts they had a great visit with todd's family.  here are a few of the pictures they came home with......

and just like that summer has started!

eight

our little man turned eight on june 12th.  he got his cast put on the day before, so on his birthday he went to school armed with a couple sharpies and came home with a decorated cast.

....on the last day of school all his buddies came home with him on the bus for a kickball birthday celebration in the backyard.

...this year he wanted an eagle cake

...he made his birthday wishes and shared his cake with his friends....and in about 3 weeks he'll be able to ride his new bike!

we look forward to another year of fun........happy birthday riley!

broken wing

riley fell out of a tree 3 days ago and he has his first broken bone.  he broke his upper arm just above the elbow. he was in a splint all weekend and is getting a full arm cast today. 

his birthday is tomorrow and he got a new bike....which he can't ride for about a month. 

he is doing well but a little bummed about his limited activities. turns out, its actually quite difficult to slow an 8yo boy down....yesterday for example todd was working in the garden in the front and came around back to discover riley up in a tree!! its gonna be an interesting summer!

ballerina

lucy had her spring ballet recital this past weekend. lots of little girls in pink and tulle. they were just giggling in pure delight.  and me as a former tomboy who internally rolls her eyes at the girlie ballet thing....even i gotta admit they are pretty adorable.
